Allergies Are Seldom, Just Skin Deep

I hear you asking, “What are, signs?” Well, unlike human patients who can describe the symptoms they’re experiencing, animals can’t put those feelings into words. We have to able to interpret the signs their body’s are displaying. Is it a rash, an inflammation or an eruption? Is it dry and scaly or moist and runny? By reading the signs, we can determine the cause of the reaction.

Soybean Products, Their Nutritive Value and Possible Health Implications

Soybean problems have been well proven in people and even though there have been limited studies it obviously affects animals as well. Why take a chance. Until more is known about soy, I think it is best to be guided by whatever has been proven so far. If you and your pet are better able to sustain yourselves by eating soy, seemingly without all the inherent problems then do so, however, please be warned that the liabilities seem to far out weigh the assets.

If You Just Can’t Lose, You Have Nothing to Gain

In this age of run away obesity, diabetes at epidemic proportions and heart disease leading the pack of the Top 15 Causes of Death in the US, weight loss is obviously a frequent topic at the water cooler. Uncontrolled weight gain in our pets and, sad to say, ourselves is thought to occur because there’s just too much eating and not enough exercising. Why can’t we lose the weight? We have Jenny Craig and other Weight Loss programs yammering from our TV’s, pet food companies pushing their reduced calorie kibble and raw diets even Mickey D‘s is slipping apples into their Kid’s Meals. For some of us critters, nothing seems to work.

Most of the recalls came from Canadian Pet Food manufacturer, Menu Foods which is the manufacturer of such “quality diverse” product lines including the high priced “Gourmet” -“Natural” – “Holistic” Brands such as; Nutro Ultra, Natural Life, IAMS, Eukanuba, to the low priced “generic” – “discounted” – “store brand” Brands like Walmart’s Old Roy’s, Winn Dixie, and Springfield Prize.
