WHAT IS A GINGIVAL FLARE?

A gingival flare relates to a red line occurring at the base of the gums where they join the very top of the tooth. This is a very common finding in both dogs and cats that may lead to a very foul breath. Common the recommendation is to clean the teeth, which in most instances will not solve the problem. What is the real problem? The red line represents an antibody deficiency in the mucous membranes of the body including the mouth, caused by a hormonal imbalance that is easily identified through proper hormone testing. There is no reason why your pet has to lose their teeth because of this gingival flare.
